Today, Leo XIV has appointed Monsignor John Gomez as Bishop of Diocese of Laredo, USA. Born in Colombia in 1975, Monsignor Gomez is a priest of the Diocese of Tyler, a canon lawyer trained at the Gregorian in Rome. He has little discernible public media footprint: no notable interviews, personal social-media presence, podcasts, or published ideological essays appear readily available online. Bishop Joseph Strickland appointed him in 2015 as vicar general of Tyler, Texas. The interesting wrinkle is that Monsignor Gomez remained after Bishop Strickland was removed: He served as delegate of the apostolic administrator from 2023–2025, then vicar general again under Bishop Gregory Kelly from 2025. CatholicVote reported in June 2023 that Monsignor Gomez helped organize meetings between the Vatican visitators and diocesan clergy, religious, and laity during the Apostolic Visitation. The Apostolic Visitation was requested by the new prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, then-Archbishop Robert …More
"How beautiful you are in soul and resplendent in body, Mary, my Mother. In this world, the Blessed Virgin was poor and unknown, but in Heaven she is glorious and beautiful, the Queen of Angels" St. Anthony of Padua
Why do the righteous suffer while the wicked prosper? Why is it that those striving for righteousness are often beset by trials, sorrows, and infirmity, while the transgressor appears to dwell in uninterrupted peace? Consider the hunter: he wastes no arrow on the carcass, nor does he strike the prey already bound within his cage. In this same manner, the Devil—the Great Hunter of Souls—sets his sights only upon those who are spiritually vibrant. He does not waste his strength on those who already wear his chains; he reserves his fury for the one attempting to escape. To the spiritually dead, he grants a false peace—the quiet of the graveyard. A Call to Vigilance: Let not the heart be deceived by a season of ease, for the silence of the Enemy is often the greatest proof of his ownership. The peace of the sinner is not a blessing; it is a numbing anesthetic administered before the final blow. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, …More

Today and tomorrow onBondings 2.0, two leading Catholic theologiansanalyze Pope Leo XIV’s recent comments about church unity and about sexual morality, which he made in response to a question about blessing same-sex couples. Tomorrow’s analysis, on sexual morality, will be by Daniel Horan, PhD, Professor of Philosophy, Religious Studies and Theology at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. Today’s analysis, on church unity, is by Brian Flanagan, PhD (he/him), who holds the John Cardinal Cody Chair of Catholic Theology at Loyola University Chicago. He is a Senior Fellow at New Ways Ministry, and the Past President of the College Theology. His most recent book is “Stumbling in Holiness: Sin and Sanctity in the Church.” Pope Leo XIV answering questions from journalists at news conference on plane ride back to Rome. What’s a good job description for a pope? When Pope Leo made comments last week about disagreeing with the German bishops on the issue of blessings for same-gender …
The Archdiocese of Rouen cancelled a scheduled performance by a well-known Portuguese DJ priest at its Joan of Arc celebrations amid mounting criticism.
Despite originally being announced as one of the event’s featured attractions, Portuguese priest and DJ Guilherme Peixoto will no longer perform at the opening-night concert of Rouen’s 2026 Jeanne d’Arc celebrations on 14 May. The Archdiocese of Rouen, France, said that Padre Guilherme had requested to postpone his appearance. This followed public criticism of his inclusion in the festival programme. Critics questioned the appropriateness of a priest performing electronic music during celebrations dedicated to Joan of Arc. He will be replaced by French DJ Charles B, who will be accompanied by a local opening act. Unlike Padre Guilherme, the replacement performers are not clergy and their performance is not framed by religion. Picture: Padre Guilherme, #newsJkmrzqlodl
In the Philippines, we have this deeply beautiful tradition, Flores de Mayo, sometimes called Flores de Maria, culminating in the Santacruzan. At its heart, it’s simple: an entire month dedicated to honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. Not just externally, but through prayer, devotion, and a kind of Marian culture that used to shape entire communities. And then you get to the Santacruzan, the grand finale. A lot of people forget this part, but it’s not even just about Our Lady directly, it’s about the finding of the True Cross by St. Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine. So what you have is this rich, layered Catholic tradition: history, devotion, theology, symbolism. It’s not shallow. It’s actually pretty profound. But somewhere along the way, things shifted. What used to be an act of devotion started turning into something else. Now, for many people, the highlight isn’t the meaning, it’s the spectacle. The gowns, the styling, the presentation. Who wore what, who looked the best …More
Tuesday 29th April 1913 Negro Watchman is Accused by Slain Girls Stepfather Tuesday April 29th, 1913 That Mary Phagan never left the factory after she entered it at 12:15 o'clock Saturday the day of her murder and that she was killed and her body dragged into the basement by the negro night watchman Newt Lee now in jail is the firm belief of the child's stepfather W. J. Coleman and other members of her family. As for Arthur Mullinax former streetcar conductor held on suspicion Mr. Coleman told a Georgian reporter he thought him innocent of the crime. He was also very doubtful if J. M. Gantt ex bookkeeper for the pencil factory where the girl worked had anything to do with her murder or knew anything about it. If the negro watchman did not kill the child, how would it have been impossible for him to hear her screams going on in the building? he asked. A livery stable man next door heard them and it would have been much easier for the watchman to. If the black did not do it himself then …More
Anglican 'Archbishopessa' Hints at Male-Only Priesthood as Injustice: After her audience with Leo XIV on Monday, Mrs Sarah Mullally, who holds the title and costume of Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury, was asked whether she had spoken with the Pope about the impossibility of female ordination. She replied evasively, stating that although she is not a politician, one of her roles is to "speak out where there is injustice". The interview took place at the Venerable English College, a Catholic seminary in Rome.
In an interview at the Venerable English College in Rome following her private audience with Pope Leo XIV, Sarah Mullally was asked whether she discussed the ministry of women with the Pope. “First and foremost, I am a pastor and a spiritual leader. But of course, in sometimes speaking as a spiritual leader and a pastor and a Christian, there are things that we will say that may be perceived as political – but I am not a politician.” “In a sense, what I’m hoping to do is to provide people with hope, praying for those who are in difficulty,” she continued. Mullally then hinted that she sees the ban on female ordinations as an “injustice,” stating that one of her tasks is “at times speaking out where there is injustice, but doing it in a way that is certainly pastoral and spiritually founded.”
Brothers—in case you have not yet grasped it—allow me to translate this for you into the very language of Marxist liberation pseudo-theology. Do you not realize that the war Prevost is waging is against Christ and His Church? This ideology teaches that the Catholic Church—Christ, His Church, and His male priesthood—are precisely the oppressors against whom they fight to defend the rendering of "justice" to (heretical) Protestants, to Jews who reject Christ, to pagans (Pachamamists), to idolatrous Muslims and all other false religions, to blasphemous atheists, and to all the unrepentant—such as sodomites, adulterers, and the like.
Home » Architecture » Before and After: St. Frances Borgia in Cedarburg, Wisconsin Conrad Schmitt Studios have provided us with yet another 'before and after' project, this time coming out of the parish church of St. Francis Borgia in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. The present church building was originally constructed in the year 1870 and over the century it underwent at least two renovations; one around the mid-century period, and another following the Second Vatican Council. In the mid-century period it obtained a renovation which essentially modified the church's altars and decoration programme to something more akin to the fads and fashions of the twentieth century liturgical movement; what came in the latter part of the twentieth century was far more radical with decorative paintwork being white-washed over, altars stripped out, and the sanctuary ordering completely changed. That is the particular face of the church that constitutes what came immediately before the restorative works …
And the impostor Robert Prevost, mocking the male priesthood instituted by Christ, began his speech by addressing the heretic Sarah Mullally disguised as a bishop and her accomplices with: "Your Grace, Peace be with all of you."
The United States Department of Justice released on April 30 a 548-page report on how the Biden administration targeted believing Christians, including traditional Catholics. The report concludes that the Biden administration “zealously pursued actions to limit Christians’ ability to act in accordance with their faith,” particularly those holding traditional biblical views on abortion, sexuality, and gender. Among the report’s findings is that the FBI’s Richmond Field Office treated traditional Catholics as potential extremists, including churches associated with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X. The FBI expanded its scrutiny after interviewing Xavier Louis Lopez, a self-described “radical traditional Catholic Clerical Fascist” convicted of possessing destructive devices. Agents opened a formal law-enforcement “Guardian profile” on his church and interviewed his priest, despite the parish having no involvement in his crimes. Agents also tracked the priest’s jail visits to Lopez …More
