From June 2011 to May 2015, she was the Minister of the Interior of Finland. She lives in Riihimäki with her husband. They have 5 children and 12 grandchildren. Dr. Räsänen is also a member of Riihimäki City Council, County Council and a member of Church council. She has written several books from a Christian perspective, for example on marriage, abortion and euthanasia. During this term, Dr. Räsänen is a member of the Social Affairs and Health Committee and a deputy member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Providing sometimes (and often not) disparate accounts of what occurred. There would be no facts upon which to venture an educated opinion of the truth were it not for the social community. There is a "Kernel of Truth" theory which posits the principle that there exists a core or nucleus of truth amongst the wild generalizations that are usually applied to particular people, events or things. (tip of the hat to Wikipedia...which often has its own kernels of truth.)
