Sacrament of Confession.

Why is it that so many priest no longer bother to hear Confession and dedicate little time to this precious Sacrament? It is because they have normalized sinful behavior as being acceptable in the eyes of God. Wrong has become right.

For example I experienced all of these situations personally: "general absolution" done at Mass when the priest instructed us to just 'think' about our sins to receive forgiveness [this was more explicit that the Penitential rite at the start of Mass]; being told in advance that due to a large number of people you can only confess ONE sin at this time; priests who casually state that they don't want to be bothered by people confessing their venial sins - instead told "go find a shrink to discuss your problems'; warned that most people who want to confess regularly (2-4 times a month) suffer from scrupulosity - told the Church precept only says we need to confess yearly {i.e. "Easter duty"}; when one does confess, you receive weird penances like "take a walk and observe nature" or "be nice to someone."

Clearly they HATE people to confess their sins. And Francis instructs priests in this disdain for the Sacrament with his false mercy - "todos, todos, todos" approach.

Speaking of strange penances, I knew a priest who told parents they had to maintain a diary so when they die, their children will have something to remember about them. No more short penances of 3 Hail Marys.
