Thousands turned out for Portugal’s March for Life 2024

Thousands of demonstrators across Portugal took part in the nation’s March for Life 2024.Caminhada Pela Vida/Facebook

Last month people in 12 cities across Portugal took part in the nation’s March for Life 2024.

On April 6, 2024, thousands of Portuguese walked the streets of Aveiro, Beja, Braga, Coimbra, Évora, Faro, Funchal, Guarda, Lamego, Lisbon, Porto, and Viseu, to witness to the sanctity of all human lives, but particularly the lives of the most vulnerable: potential victims of abortion and euthanasia.

Portugal’s 12th Walk for Life was promoted by the Portuguese Federation for Life and covered by several Portuguese media outlets. According to 40 Days for Life, abortion was legalized in Portugal up to 10 weeks of pregnancy in 2007 following a referendum. 40 Days for Life also reports that the barbaric practice is legal up to 16 weeks when the baby was conceived as the result of a rape and up to 24 weeks “in case of deformation or risk of death.”

In 2007, abortion was legalized up to 10 weeks of pregnancy by a referendum. Since, then, there have been no changes to the law.

Abortion is legal on demand up to 10 weeks, up to 16 weeks in case of rape, and 24 weeks in case of deformation or risk of death.

The Portuguese Federation for Life explained that “the Walk for Life is a civil society initiative, represented by the Platform of Walks for Life, promoted by the Portuguese Federation for Life, which expresses religious, political and social diversity.”

Mountain Monks and Muslims – The Islamic theft of eastern Christian worship rituals

The last time I headed to the mountains of western Pennsylvania for a spiritual retreat, the Martz bus was crammed with students returning to school after Easter weekend. It was not a pleasant ride. The bus driver, annoyed that he had to load passengers’ luggage into the baggage compartment all by himself, was in a foul mood. We arrived in Scranton more than a half hour late, though I suppose things could have been worse.

Brother Daniel met me at the station. In his black hat (skufia), sunglasses, long flowing beard and full black cassock, he looked like a monk from central casting. I first met Brother Daniel a year and a half earlier when he came to St. Tikhon’s monastery as a postulant from Colorado. He stayed in the guest room across the hall from me. He had short hair then but now his long hair was tied in a pony tail, and then of course there was his mammoth beard.

Saint Tikhon’s in Waymart, Pennsylvania is so isolated that when visitors without a car come to visit, a monk has to drive to the bus station to pick them up. It’s a 40-minute ride from the station to the monastery so that’s plenty of time to chat and get to know the monk who’s chauffeuring you.

I could see that monastic life was agreeing with Brother Daniel. He seemed happy and he had certainly retained his sense of humor. If you think talking to a monk is like walking on eggshells where you have to watch your P’s and Q’s and talk only of “holy things,” think again. We laughed and talked so much I was almost a little sorry that the drive came to an end as he brought me to the front door of the guest house.

Visiting an Orthodox monastery during Great Lent (Orthodox Easter this year was May 5) is not for the weak of heart. The diet is strictly vegetarian, though shell fish can be eaten on certain days. No dairy, no butter. There’s only one big meal a day — a lush vegetarian feast — although in the morning after Divine Liturgy you can help yourself to a variety of cereals, fruits, bagels, dried fruits and so on, so it’s impossible to go hungry.

I encountered my old friend Father Stephen, who had arranged this and all my prior visits to the monastery. During this visit Father Stephen told me about his trip with the Abbot, Father Sergius, author of the book, Acquiring the Mind of Christ, to Essex, England, Italy, and Istanbul. Often when the Abbot travels he asks one of the monks to accompany him.

Istanbul, of course, is in Muslim-dominated Turkey, and for Christians this can be problematic. Father Stephen — all Orthodox monks, even non-priests, are called ‘Father’ after spending a specified amount of time in the monastery — told me how it was recommended to Abbot Sergius to hold off wearing a cross in public while in Istanbul.

In recent years, the Turkish government has banned foreign Christians with Turkish spouses and children from settling in the country. Attacks on Christian sites in Turkey have also increased since 2015.

Abbot Sergius was advised to leave the cross behind because of “uncertain radical elements that could be in hiding.” Both Abbot Sergius and Father Stephen still wore their black cassocks and monastic black hats while in Turkey although, as Father Stephen explained, nearly everybody on the street is in some form of robed dress. There are no woke lefty women walking around with their tattooed flabby flesh exposed.

“We didn’t stand out at all,” Father Stephen said, whereas, of course, on the streets of New York or Philadelphia the opposite would be true. Unlike western monks, eastern monks rarely if ever don secular clothing when they leave the monastery, meaning that the cassock and black skufia (and beard) becomes their only form of dress.

In Turkey, there is a law that Turkish citizens who are members of the Christian clergy are not permitted to wear religious habits or crosses in public. Only the Ecumenical Patriarch is permitted to wear religious attire. Turkish priests and other bishops, including metropolitans, must wear secular garb. Christian churches, even cathedrals in Istanbul and in the whole of Turkey, must downplay exterior religious iconography; hence you have cathedrals that look like office buildings or banks because they are not decorated with religious symbols like a cross.

“It’s nothing but discrimination,” Father Stephen said, after telling me how he and Abbot Sergius went into the offices of the Ecumenical Patriarch near Saint George’s cathedral and noticed a man in a fashionably cut suit with raven black hair slicked back in the style of a fashion model. While the Patriarch was dressed according to the traditions of his office (robe, icon nec0klace and a klobuk or veil), Father Stephen said he had no idea who the fashionably dressed attendant was. He assumed it was security but was shocked to learn later that it was the metropolitan (archbishop), a Turkish citizen.

One doesn’t see too many monks or nuns in full habit walking the streets of U.S. cities these days. Many Catholic nuns have ditched their veils although the opposite is true for Orthodox nuns. Today when you see women in black on city streets they are almost always Muslim. The full robed Catholic nuns of fifty years ago have either disappeared or are cloistered in convents and rarely go out. Even Catholic monks when they go out on the town often slip into jeans and a sweater, making them indistinguishable from everybody else.

When Father Stephen leaves the confines of the monastery in the Scranton area, he wears his robe and skufia, which sometimes has funny consequences.

“Are you ISIS!?” a woman in Home Depot once asked him.

These episodes of mistaken identity happen a lot to Father Stephen, and for good reason. People in this country have not seen Christian clergy in religious garb for so long that any man or woman who appears in a black robe is now automatically assumed to be Muslim. But as I listened to Father Stephen relate his experiences, I had to admit that he did look…Islamic. Only people familiar with eastern Christianity would be able to catch the subtle difference in the garb.

Wearing a cross would change all that, of course. A cross would end the ambiguity. It would end those encounters that Father Stephen sometimes has when he’s in New York City and bearded, robed men approach him and say, “Hello brother. Are you Muslim?”

When some people say that Orthodox Christianity is not for “sissies,” they are referring to the length of services, the fasting and the number of prostrations preformed in church before and during the Divine Liturgy.

A prostration is lowering yourself to the ground on your knees, with your head touching the floor, then getting up quickly as the next prayer is recited, then crossing yourself and going down again. Prostrations can happen in multiples of ten or twelve, the rapid repetition of stretching the limbs making for one the best aerobatic exercises in the world. Some prostrations go into freeze frame mode when a bit of “yoga” is added to the mix as you stay put with your head touching the floor for the duration of a chant or a prayer.

This frozen “Zen” position to the untrained western eye can seem highly Islamic. In fact, Islam adopted full floor prostrations from eastern Christianity although all prostrations today are thought of as Islamic.

At the monastery, I stood behind twenty robust seminarians in black cassocks going full blast in prostration calisthenics, the effect of which was a little bit like standing behind a manly chorus of The Rockettes. All joking aside, the level of spirituality and intensity at St. Tikhon’s is profound. When your body is used in worship, when you are able to extend and test your limbs and muscles, prayer seems to become more meaningful.

All of which means, the next time you see a Muslim on the ground in public prayer, remember that this practice is really not Islamic at all but has its roots in a belief in Christ.

Images supplied by Getty show Robert Fico, unable to stand, being dragged to his car by his team. According to Slovak press, Fico is still being operated on, hours after the attack.

Also pictured is the arrest of the suspected gunman, which mainstream Slovak media reports is a 71 year old man from Levice, a historic town 50 miles to the south of where the attack took place. Denník N reports the alleged attacker is a poet and “member of the leftist Rainbow Literary Club”.

Right-wing publication Konzervatívny denník Postoj (‘The Conservative Daily Post’) claims to be able to name the suspect as Slovakian author, poet, and activist Juraj Cintula. According to the publication he has published three collections of poetry and is a member of the Association of Slovak writers. He has publicly expressed himself against violence, and eight years ago said he was founding an organisation called Left Against Violence.

In the launch, he spoke about mass migration and criticised the “hatred and extremism”, saying: “Every normal person rejects violence… Our goal is to unite people, preserve peace and restore democracy. It is very difficult because no one trusts anyone anymore. The world is full of chaos and hatred.”

Civil Service Try to COVER UP Migrant Crimes + Just Stop Oil Banned? + Dr Who Not for White Str8 Men

The Home Office is attempting to block Tory attempts to create a league table showing which migrant nationalities commit the most crimes. They are working AGAINST the British national interest. Also: Straight white men are told Dr Who is not for them. Plus: Extreme protest groups like Just Stop Oil could soon be treated like prohibited terror organisations. Muslim migrants beat up four local Germans because they drank alcohol on Father’s Day and that is not allowed in Islam

Father’s Day in Germany, illustration, screen grab youtube

Now we received a tip-off from the public that there had been a mass brawl between foreigners and Germans at the Bollwerk in Neuruppin on Ascension Day ( which is Father’s Day in Germany, Ed.)-

And so it turned out, yes, there was a brawl at the Bollwerk on that day. Norbert Lemmel, press spokesman for the Neuruppin police, did not want to confirm whether it could be called a mass brawl. But yes, there were 15 foreigners fighting with 4 Germans. And a lot of alcohol is said to have been involved. One of the participants had a blood alcohol level of over two per mille. Lemmel could not explain why this incident did not make it into the police reports. Possibly because it only resulted in minor injuries, according to the press spokesman. The reason for the brawl is said to have been that the consumption of alcohol was not compatible with the world view of Islam and that they wanted to enforce Sharia law in Neuruppin, explained one of the injured when asked. The perpetrators themselves fled the scene when the police arrived and could not be traced.

One of the Germans suffered the loss of five teeth when one of the foreigners kicked him in the face while he was lying on the ground. Another German’s arm was deliberately broken by several people when he proved to be particularly defensive. Whether this can be classed as minor injuries is questionable. It is undisputed that there are numerous acts of violence committed by foreigners and this is also shown by the crime statistics. Around fifty per cent of all violent crimes in 2023 were committed by migrants, although they only make up around a quarter of the total population. Perhaps this is one reason why criminal offences and acts of violence committed by foreigners are obviously swept under the carpet in police reports. And this brings back dark memories of a rape in 2016 in Buskower Weg in Treskow, where the public prosecutor’s office even issued a criminal order for incitement to hatred when citizens were upset that this rape was denied by the town of Neuruppin, the local press, the police and the public prosecutor’s office. The offence was only uncovered two years later and only because of an appeal by the perpetrator. He considered himself innocently convicted because, in his view, unbelieving women should submit to a believing Muslim at any time.

Canada’s intelligence agency classifies opponents of LGBT gender ideology as a ‘violent threat’

Shutterstock

Canada’s intelligence agency in a recent report claimed that Canadians who are opposed to extreme forms of LGBT gender ideology, which includes those who simply believe that one can be only a man or a woman, form the “anti-gender movement” that it claims could pose an ongoing “violent threat” during the coming year.

According to its recently tabled May 7 annual report to the House of Commons, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) claimed that it has assessed “exposure to entities espousing anti-gender extremist rhetoric” and that these people “could inspire and encourage serious violence against the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, or against those who are viewed as supporters of pro-gender ideology policies and events.”’

CSIS noted that the so-called “anti-gender movement” could be defined as those people opposed to “socio-cultural shifts that are represented by the integration and acceptance of gender theory, including acceptance of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.”

According to the agency, the so-called “anti-gender movement” is an Ideologically Motivated Violent Extremism (IMVE) movement, which are groups it says pose a “significant threat to Canada’s national security”

CSIS notes that people in the “anti-gender movement” are homophobic and transphobic.

The agency also took a shot a people’s religious beliefs by saying that “religious interpretations, conspiracy theories, or a generalized fear of sociocultural change” are factors in people with “anti-gender movement” tendencies.

CSIS listed former University of Waterloo student Geovanny Villalba-Aleman, who entered the Gender Studies class in June 2023 and then stabbed two students and a professor. Villalba-Aleman was charged with attempted murder and 11 offenses in total. The Crown asked to prosecute him as a terrorist.

Despite using the above example to back up its claims, CSIS said that only a small amount of people in the so-called “anti-gender movement” would risk committing extreme forms of violence.

As per the teachings of the Catholic church, and as it is stated in the Bible, God created only male and female. Also, it is a scientifically backed biological fact that humans are either born a man or a woman.

However, people who espouse gender theory claim that one’s gender is not indicative of their biological sex, which is male or female, and that one can be any gender from myriad ones on a list that keeps growing all the time.

CSIS said it is making it a priority to monitor the “anti-gender movement.” However, according to someone who worked for 30 years with CSIS, the agency’s note about “anti-gender” deals with certain hate crimes, and do not fall within its mandate.

As he told The Epoch Times, “It’s not part of the CSIS mandate” because it’s “not political, it’s not ideological, it’s not religious; it’s a hate crime.”

“It really makes me wonder if someone’s dictating to the service, ‘we want you to highlight this stuff,’ which I don’t think historically we used to do,” he noted, adding that to him it seems “there’s an agenda being set here.”

The federal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has gone all in on embracing and supporting radical transgender ideology, including the so-called “transitioning” of minors, while at the same time introducing laws that on the surface appear to be about helping children.

Under Trudeau, the federal government has given millions of taxpayer money to fund LGBT groups and aggressively pushes a pro-LGBT agenda. His 2024 budget includes $150 million to promote ‘2SLGBTQI+’ ideology at home and abroad.

Congolese migrant dubbed ‘poster boy for integration’ jailed in Germany for raping his own mother

Moise Lohombo was sentenced to nine years in prison by the Wiesbaden District Court. (Source: Instagram)

A Congolese refugee, previously described by the German press as a success story for integration, has been jailed for nine years after being convicted of beating and raping his own mother.

Moise Lohombo, 30, was sentenced by the Wiesbaden District Court for an offense the judge claimed was so cruel he told the court he thought he had misread the case file.

The migrant was found to have committed the crime in an apartment he shared with his mother shortly after being released from prison for a drug-related offense.

Upon the return home of his mother, he threatened her with a knife and told her he would kill her if she refused him sex. In a desperate plea, his mother offered him money for a prostitute instead, but he refused.

The victim was so severely beaten during the attack that investigators found blood spatter all over the apartment. After the rape, Lohombo reportedly apologized to his mother and called her an ambulance before fleeing.

His mother was transported to the hospital with serious injuries including bleeding on the brain. She was also heavily impacted psychologically by the attack and told nurses she was worried her son may have impregnated her.

Lohombo had become a poster boy in Germany for how migrants could successfully integrate into Western society and transform their lives.

Having arrived in Europe at the age of 8, the child migrant already had problems with aggression and would attack other children. With a long rap sheet in his youth, the Congolese national was portrayed as someone who had turned their life around, completing an apprenticeship as a baker before turning to professional boxing.

“If you sit across from Moise Lohombo over a latte, you see a charming, friendly young man who enthusiastically shows pictures of his bull terrier dog Betty on his cell phone,” read a puff piece on the man in Deutsche Handwerkszeitung back in 2017.

It described Lohombo’s life as one of “ups and downs” and praised how he had “literally fought his way through” from a life of crime to becoming a model citizen as he left his “youthful sins” behind.

The transformation failed to last, however, and Lohombo was incarcerated for drug offenses, being released on Aug. 25 last year, shortly before the rape of his mother.

During sentencing, the judge told the court he thought he had misread the case file upon reviewing the circumstances of the offense. “How can something like this happen?” he asked.

Lohombo’s only response throughout the trial was that he “did not know how this had happened.” In mitigation, his defense lawyer claimed his client had consumed psychogenic substances and alcohol and was not of sound mind during the attack.

The court, however, rejected calls to place him in a psychiatric institution instead of prison, jailing him for nine years.

France: At the Baume Canouille cemetery in Vitrolles, around twenty graves were found desecrated and a statue of the Virgin Mary decapitated

On Saturday May 11th, around 20 graves were found desecrated at the Baume Canouille cemetery in Vitrolles. A shock for the inhabitants of this tranquil neighbourhood of the town.
Statue of the Virgin Mary has her head cut off. A total of around 20 graves were desecrated on Saturday the 11th of May at the Baume Canouille cemetery in Vitrolles in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. ‘A gratuitous and disgusting act’, reacted the town hall in a press release.

At this cemetery, which is located outside the town centre, the families commemorating the 1700 graves were shocked.

‘I came here with tears in my eyes. It’s unbelievable, you don’t even know what to say, it hurts deep down,’ says 20-year-old Jérémy in an interview with our broadcaster.

57-year-old Emilie is just as speechless and describes the scene as ‘intolerable’ and ‘inhumane’ in an interview with BFM Marseille. She reports that she quickly went to the cemetery to check whether the graves of her relatives were still intact.

She continues: ‘We came straight away. This is not normal, there should be no such thing,’ she said.

The city council has decided to press charges and is calling on the families concerned to do the same.

In its statement, the municipality recalls that grave desecration is severely punished with a year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros.
